While at SXSW, Tina Roth Eisenberg announced that her app and website, teuxdeux was getting a much needed update. With this update would come major changes and it would now cost money to use it.
People seemed genuinely happy and excited at the notion that their little get-things-done app that could would be getting some attention and extra polish. When teuxdeux came on the scene, there weren't nearly as many players in the space as there are now. The competition is fierce and teuxdeux had a lot to live up to.
SXSW is an insane monster that is incredibly hard to navigate when you attend for the first time. This was my first time. It took me a couple of days into the event to get my bearings and know how to tackle a day successfully. In the beginning I oscillated between not eating regularly, drinking too much and missing talks that I wanted to get to because of the crowds.
While in Austin for SXSW I went to a lot of talks and parties. I will be recounting those experiences at length. Right now I am going to recount the restaurants and meals that I ate. Some experiences were better than others. I ate my way through Austin and learned a lot about what I will and won't eat when I get back into town.
Recently I acquired a used PSVita from a friend that runs a second-hand game store near my house (Vidiots is the name if you are interested). Initially I borrowed the device because I was curious about it. All that I had heard was that it was selling poorly and wasn't that great. What I learned that weekend is that people really have no idea what they are talking about. Before you judge something, it is best to get your hands on said thing and give it a try. In the case of the PSVita, I was beyond surprised with how much I enjoyed myself.
My friend (and co-worker) Chris Rittersdorf and I will be travelling soon to Austin, Texas to get completely overwhelmed and freaked out by crowds at SXSW Interactive. Neither of us have been to SXSW before, but we have heard stories. I have a little bit of a fear of crowds, so this should be fun for me. Parties are also something that I don't really understand, so that should also be interesting for me. I know that Chris is planning on having fun and getting down so I will tag along for quite a bit of that.
